It’s our great privilege to nurture a global community of education changemakers—and to introduce to you our 2022 Yidan Prize laureates.

Dr Linda Darling-Hammond, 2022 Yidan Prize for Education Research

Professor Yongxin Zhu, 2022 Yidan Prize for Education Development

This year, our independent Judging Committee has chosen two individuals who are transforming the role of teachers and educators: through deep insight into what makes a real difference in the classroom, and through collaborative networks that support educators to be at their best.

Linda has spent 40 years at the forefront of researching how students learn best, and how education policy and practice can ensure all students have access to well-prepared educators and inclusive classrooms. Her work promotes equitable access to quality education, and deeply informs school design and educator preparation programs.

Professor Zhu’s highly influential programs boost teacher and student motivation with a tangible impact on learning outcomes, opening doors to improved teaching and empowering learners. Since he founded New Education Initiative (NEI) over 20 years ago, NEI has reached over 500,000 teachers and over 8 million students across China.
